That is what she is

She couldn’t see that she was made of magic;
of light and promise,
of all things good.
She couldn’t see that she was made of magic;
She could only see herself through the broken mirrors of critics,
and the skewed eyes of jealousy.
She believed all the worst things about herself,
and took to bed the sharpest words.
She cut out the best parts of herself,
carving away the loudness of color from her now permanent pallor.
She couldn’t see that she was made of magic;
How tragic.
