It is said that Sun and the Moon are two lovers cursed never to encounter one another.

Sighing in silence, one must leave when the other arrives.

Day after day, they long for just a few seconds of physical coexistence that never occurs.

Their love is so profound that they both fiercely shine when it is their turn, one after the other, an alternating solo dance happening day after day.

It is enough for them to know that the other was just there a few hours before, encapsulated in the other’s essence still floating in the air…

At dawn, there are a few magical minutes in which the Sun, adorned with its distinctive reddish-orange rays, beams at her in the far distance like a spotlight on a dark stage as she slows her pace while leaving the sky room…

It’s his way of saying: “I see you.” And that’s all they need to keep their eternal love flame alive.

Yet there are days when the Moon dares to wait for and align with him…

…just for a few hours, placing herself between the Sun and the Earth, magnificently attired for the occasion.

The Sun cannot help but surrender to her silvery beauty and elegance. He becomes eclipsed by it, dimming its natural light to allow her to get closer.

It’s her moment.

Scientists call it a (partial) solar eclipse.

The Moon prefers to call it:Me, challenging all universal rules as a proof of my unconditional, relentless, and eternal love for you, my dear Sun.”

She knows she cannot stay for too long, though.

She knows it’s forbidden, as they cannot transgress those fundamental and immutable Universe’s rules.

He smiles at her daring determination and proudly thinks:

“This is the reason why I fell in love with her.”

Then, he extends his orange reflections and embraces her —always keeping some distance. They learned a long time ago to hug and caress each other without actually touching, in silent secret.

They will whisper to one other for a few hours: “I LOVE YOU.”

And during that time, we, the privileged witnesses of this furtive encounter, look up to the sky, yearning for a love story of such magnitude, even if only for a short time, longing for someone who eclipses our hearts and our lives.
