  1. He is ABSOLUTELY scared of cockroaches and starts jumping instantly if he spots one, particularly if it’s a winged cockroach that creeps up during the monsoons.
  2. He accompanies me for grocery shopping and tells the shopkeeper blatantly that the products kept on his shelf are expired. He feels it’s his duty to do so.
  3. He needs to take up a home project ALL the time. Be it buying a floor lamp, a side table, or noise-cancellation curtains. Sometimes, it gets on my nerves. But mostly, it’s cute. Also, he keeps swapping bulbs between different rooms just to see where the wattage/light is looking the best.
  4. When we stay in hotels, the first thing he does is check how big the bathroom is. That’s his first instinct over everything else.
  5. Speaking of hotels, one time, he called up a 5-star hotel at 2.30 in the night when we were planning a staycation. Here’s how the conversation went:

Husband (H): Hi, I want to book a lake-facing room on the 9th floor. My preferred dates are 4th-5th September.
Receptionist (R): Hello, Sir. I’ll surely help you with the same.
H: Please make sure that the room allotted to me also has a balcony.
R:
Sir, no room in the hotel has a balcony.

*awkward silence*

H: But it’s mentioned on the website.
R: … *awkward silence intensifies*

H: You might want to get that corrected.

Yes, that’s what the receptionist wants to do. At 2.30 at night. Get the website corrected. :|

6. He can’t cook, except for tea and omelet. (Even for the latter, I chop veggies for him). BUT. He can flip an omelet perfectly and is extremely proud of it. He considers himself no less than Mr. Masterchef.

7. He loves lawn tennis — a hobby he wanted to pursue in childhood but couldn’t. We got the opportunity to play the game once, at a resort. It went on for around 45 minutes. BUT — Turns out, the rules he taught me (because I was a clueless beginner) were not the lawn tennis rules after all — they were badminton’s.

8. My Husband has a pair of black crocs, and I have RED ones. He makes fun of them. Yet, ends up wearing mine — because they’re cleaner and more comfortable. The same goes on for my RED headphones that he often mocks for their color yet stealthily uses.

9. Whenever my mom asks him what gift he wants for an important occasion — birthday/anniversary? He always has one answer: night suit/pajama set. Making things kinda awkward.

10. Whenever we go out, and I start dressing up, he walks into my room, sees what I’m wearing, and accordingly picks out his clothes in an attempt to color-coordinate with me. Sometimes, I roll my eyes because we often end up looking like this:

11. He talks patiently with customer care/sales executives till the very end. I’ve never seen him hang up on them. He understands that they’re just doing their job — a difficult one, indeed.

12. He sings PASSIONATELY all the time — but mostly wrong lyrics. He doesn’t know that. Sometimes, I join him in the chorus to make him feel better.

13. He is a deep sleeper — alarms can’t wake him up. Still, he puts on the alarm for ME. So that I am awake on time and can subsequently wake him up, at least it’s effective; that’s what he says. Here’s how I look on most mornings, with an alarm clock jingling in my hands:

To love someone is to love them in all their glory — foibles and all. These small things — his little quirks, often remind me of how much I TRULY love him.
