Cultivating Healthy Spirituality

There is a pervasive sense in our society that we are in a bad place, and things are only getting worse. There is a growing disconnect between humans and the natural world, which has been linked to poor mental health and ecological destruction.

A broad range of mental illnesses, including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar personality disorder, and eating disorders, have been linked to feelings of psychological or social disconnection.

Cultivating a healthy spirituality and having a sense of meaning and connectedness is essential for our health, wellbeing and growth. In general, healthy spirituality includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life.

While spirituality may incorporate elements of religion, it is generally a broader concept. An opening of the heart is an essential aspect of true spirituality.

We can discover and engage with our spiritual life through many kinds of practices such as meditation, breathing, shamanic ceremonies, yoga, sound healing experiences, and connecting with nature. Many practices recommended for cultivating spirituality are similar to those recommended for improving emotional wellbeing. https://www.deeph.io/buddhas-rules-for-happiness/
