Why Healthy Lifestyle is a Social Responsibility

Experts found that people who lead a healthy lifestyle could expect to enjoy many more years of good health compared to those who smoke, drink too much or are overweight.

The study, published in the British Medical Journal, took data from more than 110,000 people and looked specifically at cardiovascular disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes.

The researchers concluded: “We observed that adherence to a low-risk lifestyle was associated with a longer life expectancy at age 50, free of major chronic diseases of approximately 7.6 years in men and 10 years in women compared with participants with no low-risk lifestyle factors.”

Prof Jonathan Valabhji, NHS clinical director for diabetes and obesity, said: “Expanding waistlines are damaging for both the health of the nation and the NHS — leading to a string of dangerous diseases with a high cost for taxpayers.”

“A healthier population will lead to lower healthcare costs. Perhaps the simplest way to reduce healthcare costs is to promote a healthier lifestyle among the population.”

Unhealthy lifestyle behaviours are responsible for most chronic diseases. Chronic diseases cause approximately 70% of all deaths and up to 75% of all healthcare costs. Lack of physical activity, poor diets and tobacco use are directly responsible for 70–90% of chronic diseases.

The question is, is an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure when it comes to your health? Given the well‐documented relationship between lifestyle, disease burden and healthcare costs, it makes economic and medical sense to hold individuals morally responsible for their health‐related choices. Personal health is our responsibility, and we should be encouraged to take better care of ourselves. Prospective health appeals will be aimed at raising awareness about the consequences of harmful behaviour.

Prevention is the key to any health condition, and it all starts by living a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you are moving every day and eating a diet that is full of whole foods such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole-grains. Your body will thank you later! https://www.deeph.io/doctors-appointments-to-make-in-your-20s-30s-40s-50s-and-beyond/

DeepH has developed an innovative and easy-to-use app to help you understand your health so that you can take control of your journey and contribute to improving the health of others.

Even if you are not a fitness fanatic and working out seems like a challenge, you still need to track the steps you take, the calories you burn, your sleep duration, and control your blood pressure, at least some of the time.

With the DeepH app, you can do all of this in one place. The DeepH App collects your fitness data from different sources and enables you to manually add information about your blood pressure and blood glucose levels. The app will then give you immediate feedback on your parameters, telling you whether or not they are normal according to your age group. DeepH can also help you to control the number of cigarettes you smoke, how long you meditate for and allows you to see your health score change as you improve.
