Nizen

After staying home for two days during the long weekend, I decided to venture out for a nice fika of coffee and cake. Definitely avoiding all the crowds in Shum Shui Po area, I decided to try Nizen out, hoping to find a quieter and more peaceful environment.

Buddha and Coffee Beans

This decision is probably the best one I made throughout the week (haha!). I got a table immediately visiting at about 1pm on a bank holiday Monday.

This Brick Wall

Unlike the brick wall in Coffeelogy (Causeway Bay), there are perplex light bricks here, which make the wall even more adorable.

Take Your Time to Enjoy Your Food Mindfully

I came targeting the cake and drink. Even though the fig toast looked really appealing…it will have to wait for next time…

Earl Grey Blackberry Cake & Tofu Hojicha

This piece of Earl Grey Blackberry Cake is definitely one of the best in Hong Kong. Vegan cakes usually have a funny extra dense texture without the use of animal fat, but this one didn’t have this issue, and was as tasty as an ordinary non-vegan cake! The layer of cream smeared was so smooth, therapeutic and delicious! The cake itself had a strong earl grey flavour, and the blackberry was just right to lighten heaviness of the filling cake. Superb!

The glass of Tofu Hojicha was very interesting. It had a thick texture and a nice tofu taste, yet you can still taste the hojicha. I wonder how the tofu is blended in. A great drink for sure!

Definitely visiting Nizen again for more delicious vegetarian food and desserts!
