Hello and happy holiday season! 🦃🎄🍾

Through October and November we’ve been hard at work improving the security and reliability of Filtered, as well as making sure that all of our new customers are able to get set up quickly and easily.

We have huge development plans for 2019 and it’s taken some time to organize the internal pieces of Filtered to make it all possible. While we were refactoring, implementing new services, and enabling workflows, our scrappy Boston product team managed to sneak in a handful of improvements.

Below are some of my favorite updates:

Default owners

There used to be some situations where a candidate would finish their interview but no one would be notified. That’s because candidates that interview through a job listing, social media post, or staffing vendor didn’t have an assigned owner.

Now, you can add one or more “default” owners to any interview. The people you designate will be automatically assigned as owners if a candidate applies on their own or if they were submitted by a vendor. If you choose to use default owners, all new candidates will always be given at least one owner which greatly increases efficiency and accountability.

Sorting and filtering in the Dashboard

Got a lot of candidates to sort through? We hear you.

You’ll notice that sorting, filtering, and list view options have appeared on your dashboard. Forget the days where you had to “load more” over and over again, these controls will help you zoom in on the candidates that matter most.

New data science questions

Image result for one-hot encoding

If you have a Filtered Enterprise account, you’ll now be able to build interviews that test candidates on assessing fit with linear regression and transforming data for ML applications via one-hot encoding.

Both of these questions are conducted within Jupyter Notebook, letting you see not only the score but the way that they approached solving the problem using tools that they would actually have on the job.

Client portal share and view history

One of the most important parts of sharing candidates to others is actually seeing that they reviewed. That’s why built a detailed history display into the Client Portal tool.

Now, you can see which people opened the portal and took action on candidates. Clients are updated automatically when you add more candidates to a portal and you are updated when clients take action, keeping everyone up-to-date and saving you the time spent writing emails while trying to keep tabs on everyone.

“Correct this code” questions (BETA)

Filtered now has the ability to design questions which give candidates half-finished or buggy code to work with. Testing candidates in this way can help you assess how detail-oriented they are and how they might perform when they need to navigate through a new codebase (which is typical for the first day on the job).

These question types are in beta and we are currently seeking testers. Please reach out to us if you would like to try it out with your candidates.

Completely revised illustrations

You‘ll soon notice that your Filtered account has a fresh new look. That’s because Jili Huang poured his blood, sweat, and tears into creating a full suite of modern imagery to compliment the Filtered user experience. If you ever see him on the streets of Boston, give Jili a pat on the back. These illustrations will be rolling out in all accounts over the next few days.

That’s all for now
