Groovin’ The Moo has unleashed an absolutely killer lineup, presenting the perfect blend between iconic Aussie bands, international superstars, and a whole lotta memes.

There’s no denying that this years Groovin’ lineup caught us all a little off guard. There’s a lot to unpack, a few artists to google, and some very big names. This year, GTM has really thought outside the box and as usual the internet has a LOT to say about it.

Some artists haven’t released a hit since the 80's, one found their fame on Dr Phil, and another was busking on the streets of Byron Bay just over a year ago.

Welcome to 2020.

BHAD BHABIE

Cash me at GTM how bah dah?

Fresh outta the Dr Phil studio, 16-year-old, Danielle Bregoli AKA Bhad Bhabie transformed her overnight internet fame into an insanely successful rap career. Nominated for the Billboard Music Awards ‘Top Rap Female Artist’, and with over 130 million Spotify streams on her track ‘Gucci Flip Flop’ alone, we’ve got a feeling this set is gonna be pretty massive.

But Bhad Bhabie’s bhad attitude ain’t for everyone, this artist drop sent the internet into a frenzy as millennials wondered how she made her way onto the lineup. GTM, this wasn’t very Triple j of you.

It seems like we will be ‘cashin’ a lot of these commenters outside the festival this year. Not gonna lie, Bhad Bhabie at GTM is the lineup edition we didn’t know we needed.

BLANCO BROWN

Best known for the infamous ‘The Git Up’, Blanco Brown Blurs lines between country and hip-hop, and is now a certified Tik Tok sensation.

Honestly, we are living for the thought of the entire crowd doing the Git up dance in the mosh, it’s going to be a scene.

Get practicing people

DARUDE

This one blew us away. There’s no denying that Darude’s hit ‘Sandstorm’ is an absolute banger. Released in 1999, yep thats right 1999, his iconic single remains one of the highest selling dance singles in the history of electronic dance music, with over 10 million global sales.

Predicting that the sunnies also make a comeback for GTM this year.

Aside from Hayden James,(who now often performs a live show), Darude was the only DJ announced on the lineup.

Despite his international success, many simply can’t look past the meme drawcard of the artist, for example former Triple J host and Producer/DJ — Nina Las Vegas.

Shit got real when Darude hit back at Nina’s comment, proving that he is much more than just his top hit.

It appears that this is a problem that the Finnish artist often faces.

“I don’t want to only be known as the ‘Sandstorm’ guy, but I’m not dumb or oblivious to how the world works.”

KELIS

Kelis’ timeless hit ‘Milkshake’ is sure to bring all the boys (and girls) to the yard (GTM). The American icon has an impressive catalogue of six albums under her belt. Oh and did we mention she’s also a grammy nominee, a chef, and a fashion icon.

SUGAR HILL GANG

Sugar Hill Gang are set to put the Groovin’ in Groovin’ the Moo.

Given that one of the top searches related to the trio is; “Is the sugar hill gang still alive?”, it is wildly impressive that GTM pulled this one out of their hat.

The American hip-hop group made hip-hop history when their 1979 hit ‘Rapper’s Delight’ became the first rap single to become a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, essentially starting what is now the world’s biggest genre. To this day, the tune remains funky and fresh so it definitely be a vibe when they drop this classic.

We absolutely can’t wait to see how it goes down live and also this which is another belter from the gang.

THE VERONICAS

From rocking out to the Veronicas in your bedroom as a pre-teen, to rocking out to them in the mosh as young adult, the Aussie icons have become one of hottest acts on the festival market and they’re set to rock GTM this year.

Let’s hope festival goers are prepared for the ‘Wall of Death’.

Nestled among iconic names and meme worthy moments, there are a few friendly faces. This years lineup is crawling with great Aussie talent. Fresh outta Triple j’s hottest 100, the bill presents top 10 royalty Tones And I and Mallrat, and entrants Ruby Fields, San Cisco, Hayden James, Slowly Slowly, and Dope Lemon.

Plus WAAX and Kira Puru.

And of course, headliners Gang of Youths.

It also boasts solid Hip-Hop acts like YBN Cordae, Maxo Kream, and Manu Crooks to keep the party going.

While this lineup initially presents itself as a bit of a mess, it’s a beautiful mess. The diverse, unprecedented lineup reflects both the evolving trends of the current time and the uprising talent of the live music industry.

Variance is often lacking in festival lineups, so it’s refreshing to see a lineup that presents such a diverse range of artists across a range of genres, generations and audiences. No doubt this will create an immersive, one of a kind experience, that will definitely be worth documenting on the gram.

From moshing to Bhad Bhabie to experiencing hip-hop history with Sugar Hill Gang, to uncovering your next fave Aussie artist, this is a festival lineup we are so ready to experience.
