Shift planning has come a long way since paper charts and time clocks. There are a variety of shift planning systems that let you create and manage shifts for your people on the web but they haven’t evolved with time to support the workforce of today.

Even if you’re using an online shift planning system chances are people are still missing their shifts, you are unable to make decisions quickly enough, the actual hours worked data lives in a different system and you are unable to monitor your mobile/remote workforce with enough transparency. This is why, we believe, shift planning on an instant messenger makes a lot of sense.

Introducing Shift Management on AttendanceBot

Along with vacation tracking and time tracking, we are introducing Shift Management in AttendanceBot. With this, you can create and manage shifts for your people, set up recurring shifts, set up shift starting and ending reminders in Slack (or Microsoft Teams or Google chat) and also track their actual hours worked (against tasks, projects or clients) and download the actual timesheet.

People can inform managers about running late or if they are going to miss their shifts and managers can re-assign the shift to someone else on the fly with just a few messages to AttendanceBot. The underlying functionality of messaging makes it an even better shift planning system as quick discussions can be down right there and decisions about shift assignments, reassignment or changes can be done swiftly.

If you’re an IT team that needs to set up an on call calendar, a concierge service that needs to set up shifts for your people, a retail setup or a clinic or any other business that needs setting up of shifts, you should definitely give AttendanceBot a look.
