While New Year’s resolutions might not be your thing, the start of a new decade does present a nice opportunity to reflect, look back on what you achieved, and maybe set some gentle goals for the next 10 years.

Whatever those goals may or may not include, we’ve rounded up our favourite ‘life-streamlining’ apps of the last decade, that might just help you hit your targets for the next. Or, you know, just make your life that little bit easier!

Fitness — Classpass

If you’re looking for a way to get into fitness that doesn’t involve lengthy gym memberships, ClassPass might just be what you’re looking for. ClassPass is “a monthly fitness membership that provides you with access to thousands of different studios, gyms, and wellness offerings across ClassPass cities worldwide.” You can choose from different membership options, all of which can be cancelled with just a month’s notice, starting at £15 a month for 9 credits/2 classes, up to £125 a month for 100 credits/32 classes. You then use these credits to book yourself into classes at any of the top studios in your area! From yoga classes to spin, barre, and military fitness training, ClassPass has a huge variety of classes and studios available, so you can mix and match as you please.

Food — Riverford app

Riverford is a great service that delivers seasonal organic fruit and/or veg to your door on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. They’ve recently launched their app which now makes selecting, ordering and managing your deliveries even easier! Perfect if you’d like to squeeze in a few more vitamins in 2020.

Travel — Trainline

One of the real downsides of the festive season? All the travel. If you’ve had a nightmare this Christmas arranging train travel, keeping on top of travel disruptions and finding the right place to store the various valuable tickets you’ve acquired, the Trainline might just be a godsend to you. The Trainline app allows you to view train timetables, book e-tickets (never lose a paper ticket again!), keep on top of any delays and view the progress of your current journey in-moment.

Finances — Monzo

Chances are it’s mid-January and you haven’t been paid since mid-December. With 2 more weeks to go until your next paycheck, a little help with your finances may not go amiss! A number of new banking apps have come onto the scene in the past decade, disrupting traditional banking as we know it and helping a whole generation of people manage their finances smarter. Our favourite has to be Monzo — and not only because of the bright pink card. Monzo has too many features for us to reasonably list in a listicle (very meta), but some of our favourites include the ability to set up different savings ‘pots’, bill-splitting with other Monzo cardholders, and the ability to get paid a day before your payday.

Sleep — Sleep Cycle alarm clock

Missing the lie-ins of your Christmas break? Yep — us too. That’s why we’re looking to maximise our sleep this year, and get the most out of those precious zzz’s each night. One way to do this is with Sleep Cycle’s alarm clock. Sleep Cycle analyzes your sleep pattern and wakes you up at the most perfect time, feeling rested. No more groggy mornings for us.

Gifting — WhatWeWant

And finally, an area of our lives that may have given us all considerable headache recently — gifting! With diaries already becoming full of weddings, birthday celebrations, graduations and suchlike, looking at how best to streamline how you gift is a smart move. WhatWeWant makes it easier for you to split the cost of gifts with family and friends. So, if you have a wedding coming up, why not use the app to split the cost of a larger wedding gift for the happy couple between your friendship group? That way, they get one amazing gift, rather than lots of small bits.

Regardless of what your dreams and goals are for the next decade, we could all do with a little help streamlining our daily processes. Why not check some of these apps out for yourself and let us know what you think?
