Why is it that for every situation I laugh? I laugh when I’m happy, when I’m sad, when I’m crying, when I’m in a funeral, when I see others cry, and when I hear something funny.

A wise man once told me that laughter is a man’s best medicine, he also told me that laughing makes me lose weight.

Why do I laugh? Why does anyone laugh? Is laughter a way to cope with our problems?

Why is ‘lol’ after every sentence?

Why do I say ‘just kidding’ to the things I was not kidding about? Why do I always say ‘girl, I’m just joking’? Laugh Out Loud, Just Kidding and I’m joking are all words that are connected in some way, shape, or form.

When I use ‘just kidding,’ I’m not always joking. When I write LOL after a sentence, I’m not always laughing. In today’s world people mostly laugh, and create jokes in order to lighten the mood. Why is it that if someone says something offensive and doesn’t put lol after a sentence, its offensive? What is the power of ‘lol’? What is the significance of ‘just joking’ if there is always a truth to just joking. Does this mean that anyone can get away with inappropriate comments if it’s said in a joking manner? You might be asking yourself, why is she asking so many questions? Well I heard that joking and laughing, in some way can be used as a protest. Almost everyone listens to a joke and everyone laughs to something true that is said in funny way.

A comedian that I listened to name Loni Love is a black women who uses her talent and voice to get people to hear what she has to say. I love the fact that she is able to open peoples mind and get them to listen with her jokes and laughter. She brings awareness from her jokes. Maybe at the moment people find it funny but later on they meditate and discover the purpose of the joke. Comedy is a great form of protest and bringing awareness because it encourages people to come together in a humorous way. I consider joking to be civil even though it would not be considered politically correct. Amy Schumer is a white comedian that also uses her voice to bring awareness to people. These 2 women who stated they are feminist show the world that women have amazing talents and women can be as successful as men. They show this by their jokes.

I know some people are asking “how could women or anyone joke about violence, abuse and racism?” When anyone jokes around with racism, violence or abuse I see it as a form of protest. Protest is a way to bring awareness to people. Even without a person thinking about what they are joke around with, they protest their beliefs. For example let’s use a joke that I heard of about abusive men, there was this comedian who said “man I just got out of jail for betting a girl up, I recommend to all you men if you don’t want your ass raped by other men in jail then keep your hands off a women”. He then continued saying, “let’s be real there is no reason to hit a women, we need to stop this trend that makes men think we are stronger and better then a women because we beat them up. It’s not true it just make men look weaker”. Comedians will point it out sometimes to be funny but most of the time they says it to prove a point because as comedians they use their life stories to say what they believe. This brings awareness to people and helps explain to people that no one should ever abuse someone. Even with not saying it directly it helps bring awareness.

Why is laughing beneficial to people? Laughing always makes me get in a good mood. Fake a smile will make a smile. Some may say well why? Well when you are smiling it shows to the people around you that you are having a great day and nothing is bothering you. Now when someone offends you and you take it as a joke and laugh it will make the other person seem like it doesn’t bother you and whatever they say may be irrelevant to you. This is more like it takes away a bullies power. This makes it seem like a bully doesn’t how power over you. If nothing hurts you them they are worthless and will move on to another person or will make them feel less of themselves. This is called using a taste of your own medicine.

LOL is a powerful word, joking is the weapons that people should use to get a point threw and I’m just joking is a way to get your truth out without people ignoring you. Laughter is a great form of medicine. Even though it might not make you lose weight it will make your world a better place.
