Let me start by asking you a question, what does it mean to “explore” in a world where everything’s been “found”?

That question was posed to Brett by Bassam Tarazi in a conversation they had about a week before their interview. And it sort shaped the conversation that you’ll hear in this week’s episode of Where There’s Smoke.

We’re going to go on a winding road from a conversation with Bassam talking about his experience with The Mongol Rally (“the greatest motoring adventure on the planet”) to a dream.. that Brett had.. about a website..

Just stick with us. We promise it’ll be worth it.

How about we all just agree to explore together? And the thing about an Exploration is that you never really know where you’re going to end up. That’s what exploring is all about, right? It is the act of searching for the purpose of discovery. And if you knew beforehand what you’d find, well, it wouldn’t really be an exploration.

A big thanks to Bassam Tarazi for joining in on the fun, and being a great friend to Brett and the show over the years. In this episode, we didn’t get into the nitty gritty of Bassam’s incredible journey to complete the Mongol Rally in 2014, but his new book definitely does. It is called BORDERS, BANDITS, AND BABY WIPES and it is now available on Amazon and other book stores. Go secure yourself a copy now. Sounds like a perfect read for 2018. Happy Exploring!
