Did you know that mango trees were poisonous? I did not know that mango trees were poisonous. The fruits are super tasty but the BARK IS NOT AT ALL NICE. Apparently, mango tree bark and sap contain urushiol, the same chemical compound found in poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.

50% to 70% of people are allergic to the urushiol in poison ivy and mango trees. Unless you’re competing in some weird game of contact dermatitis bingo, I suggest you just use a pole to knock down the ripe fruit.

Well, now I have an itchy rash on my left arm and leg, so let’s hope the three fellas currently ripening on our patio are tasty enough to warrant the sacrifice.

Please be tasty.
