Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, is a Jamaican National Holiday. We celebrated the local way by trekking to the Hellshire hills for fresh fish and some beach time.
The scene by the waves was lively and chaotic. Fisherman landed their boats up onto shore, massive soundsystems competed for acoustic supremacy, and lines of fish-gutters-for-hire scraped scales into plastic paint tubs. Equestrian entrepreneurs sold horse rides to children and other young businessmen hawked leisurely tube rides down the shallows.
