Kate: We had an opportunity to try something really unique last week.

David: However it’s going to be a bit difficult to describe since we don’t really know what it’s called or what it was made of.

Kate: Here is a picture. (Hint: it is the purple liquid in the plastic tub with the floaty stuff.)

David: Very informative, right? Okay, so we were at this all-you-can-eat tuna sushi restaurant (Kate will post more on that later) and toward the end of our meal, the chef who had been serving us handed us shot glasses and asked us if we wanted to try the purple liquid.

Kate: Of course we said yes.

David: They used a bowl to scoop out some of the drink, plopped in down into a tea kettle, and then poured our drinks out the spout.

Kate: It was tasty.

David: …and slimy.

Kate: Yeah, it was a bit slimy. Perhaps gooey would be a better term. Gooey/stringy.

David: Okay, I don’t know about ‘stringy’ — at least thankfully mine was not stringy. It was definitely gooey though, perhaps mucous-y. Another blog (written by someone who actually speaks Korean) said that the purple drink was “cactus liquor” and claims that the floaty bits were tuna eyes.

Kate: I dunno — it didn’t really taste fishy at all. More sweet and tingly. I liked it.

David: I also really did enjoy it. Though I admit that I just kind of took it as a shot and tried to drink it down as fast as possible since I was a bit squidgy on what I was having. I think that afterwards we remarked about how if we were going to end up in the hospital after any particular meal, it would likely be the all-you-can eat sushi trip where we had shots of mysterious purple goo. All in all though, major success.

Kate: Here, here is another picture from that other blog we mentioned. You can kind of see that the texture in the glasses is a bit swirly. Cheers?

Grade: Kate=A, David=B for taste / A+ for experience
