“It is not very lonely because my friends will be with me most of the time…My Chinese friends will be with me for dinners and parties.”

— Jacklyn Wu

Having been in the U.S for 3 years, Jacklyn Wu is now a junior finance major at West Virginia University. Jacklyn’s father, a real estate businessman, purchased a house for Jacklyn and the entire family, but her father is away on business for more than half the year, and her mother and brother remain in China. So, Jacklyn lives alone in her 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home.

This year, Jacklyn became the chairman of Chinese Students and Scholars Association. She organizes activities in her house for Chinese students and scholars so that they can celebrate special occasions or Chinese festivals.

“It’s not like the apartment…You do not have the management guy and when the air conditioner is broken, you have to look online for companies’ information and call the maintenance man.”

How to commute to WVU and time/distance?
Jacklyn
: Driving for 3 minutes

What is your favorite part of the house?
Jacklyn
: The closet… that’s where I had my first kiss.

How much is your house?
Jacklyn
: My father bought it for $250,000.
