“ I walked into my room and knew I wanted to be here with all of the natural lighting. The balcony, the windows, everything… It’s small, but it feels like home.”

— Jacob Klettner

After bouncing around a couple of less-than-ideal housing options, Mountaineer Jacob Klettner found his perfect WVU home in the heart of Morgantown’s Sunnyside. With a passion for fashion and a love of all things vintage, Jacob has collected a variety of unique pieces that truly make his space distinctively his own.

Jacob, originally from Wheeling, WV, is a strategic communications major in WVU’s Reed College of Media. He is currently the vice president of the university’s only LGBTQ club — Spectrum.

“As soon as I walked in, I knew this was the place I wanted.”

Tell me about your vinyl collection. Where did all of those records come from?
Jacob: Most of my records were my mom’s and my uncle’s from the 70’s and 80’s. The record player was my grandma’s, so when we cleaned out her house, I inherited not only her really incredible record collection but her stereo that was almost pristine because she never really used it. I’ve added a few of my own from some of my favorite bands like Walk The Moon and Twenty One Pilots. I think I have the Beatles on there now. My favorite record is honestly probably Abba’s Greatest Hits. I love Abba.

Do you listen to them often?
Jacob: Oh yeah! You have to really have time to listen to them. I have to have time to lay in my room and really listen to music. Whenever I get a chance, I put them on and just chill.

Tell me about the rest of your stuff! You’re a fan of vintage?
Jacob: I love vintage pieces. I think they add a really unique flavor to a house.

Where do you think you’ll be after graduation?
Jacob: After graduation, I really hope to find a paid internship or a job in either advertising or strategic social media. My goal is to be in a city. I don’t care which city. If it’s Pittsburgh, Chicago, New York, LA… Just a city… I love West Virginia. It’s been great to grow up here, but my dreams are bigger than this beautiful state can hold.

Rent: 475/person, $1425/house (Utilities Included)
