Given the recent election of Donald Trump to the Presidency, many are publicly voicing their support or opposition, and looking for ways to effect change. Protests are one form of political participation. Another two ways you can make your voice heard about issues you care about is by reaching out to local politicians and contributing to trusted, relevant organizations. Here’s a useful guide to making your Congressperson listen to you. John Oliver, a left-leaning investigative journalist/humorist, had an amazing segment in his most recent episode of Last Week Tonight. He lists a number of organizations that you can help out (if you have the time and/or money).

Whichever route you choose, rely on on truthful information to guide you. It is necessary for effective decision making. This is as true for everyday people as it is for governments.
