Did ADHD Just Save Trump’s Life?

A neuro-atypical brain has upsides and downsides in our modern world

An assassin’s bullet recently missed Donald Trump’s brain by mere millimeters. Much ink has already been spilled over the gunman’s motivation. Almost nobody has addressed what role Mr. Trump had in the outcome of this event.

Yet it is not unreasonable to conclude that his ADHD saved Mr. Trump’s life.

I know that I’m not going to convince individuals who think that divine intervention determined how the shooting unfolded. Rather, I’m speaking to those interested in how brains, including those of presidential candidates, work. I’ll be addressing the role of hyperactivity in adult ADHD.

Trump has ADHD

Although much less widely discussed than his narcissistic traits, Trump has displayed symptoms for years that indicate he robustly fills the full official criteria for ADHD. I’ve written about this in more detail elsewhere, which I will summarize here.
