We have held a wonderful AMA session with the representatives of Footballcoin. Read the transcript below to learn about the blockchain-based fantasy football game!
Q: What was the story and original idea behind creating your project, and what was the motivation for it? Have you reached the goal?
A: Great question! FootballCoin began as a dream of creating a bridge between the world of football and blockchain technology. All of the original members of the team are big fans of both. We have been working continuously on the project for the past four years, updating and improving it. We have built a dedicated community and believe we have managed to offer a great gaming experience. Thus, I think we have succeeded in our initial goal but are still constantly looking to improve and grow 👍
Q: The competition in the field of gaming in the crypto market is growing quite rapidly now. What is your competitive advantage? Are you somehow related to gambling/betting, or is it just gaming?
A: FootballCoin has no connection to gambling or betting. This is a fantasy football game based on blockchain technology. It is a game of skill using real stats. Those with the best knowledge of football are the ones that win. We think we have many advantages over the competitors. Part of this stems from the fact that we have worked tirelessly on the project for the past four years. Simply put, the cryptocurrency and NFT collectibles have real utility, the game is fun and easy to use, and we have our blockchain making transactions quick and inexpensive.
Q: What innovations will XFC bring to the traditional fantasy football we all know of, and how will players be rewarded?
A: First of all, the contests are registered on the blockchain. This offers complete transparency and eliminates all fraud risks. In regards to the rewards, the XFC and cards in the game are owned by the players. This lets them take part in a unique economy from which they can benefit. Q: Do you see XFC going into the NFT game with good old playing cards or anything similar? Good childhood memories for many of us?
A: We love collectible cards! Many of us had Panini stickers and similar items when we were kids. The collectible element is part of the appeal for sure.
Yes, our game is based on NFT collectible cards of footballers and stadiums. The good news is, unlike stickers, these ones are issued on the blockchain and give you benefits (using them in the game, trading, leasing them, and so on). In fact, you can collect unique NFT cards and also actively use them. We think this is a cool concept and hope you do as well.
Q: Please, tell us more about your cards. How to get Player/Stadium/Assistant Manager cards and what to do with them?
A: All of these cards are NFT-issued on FootballCoin’s blockchain. They are all collectible cards having a utility within the game. The first use is, of course, within the fantasy game component. Players score you points based on real performances, and the Assistant Manager scores points based on their ranking. The Stadium cards allow you to organize contests and receive a percentage from the stake. All of the cards give you benefits and rewards in the game, depending on how you use them. Besides choosing them to create your fantasy draft, you can also trade or lease them to other users.
Q: Could you please explain the use of purchasing FootballCoin assets with XFC? Will it be your version of applying NFT to your blockchain assets, and will it include NFL items?
A: Yes, we are excited about NFT collectible items. We introduced this system over four years ago and have built a loyal community. Purchasing the assets allows you not only to perform better in the game but also to take advantage of the game’s economy. While most cards are free, collectible items represent the very best footballers. Say, for example, you buy a card of Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland. You can use them in contests to earn more XFC. You can also lease, trade, or auction them for XFC. Besides, if you own a stadium card, you can organize your own contests and earn a percentage of the entry fees you decide on.
All the cards are issued on the FootballCoin blockchain that allows us to offer full transparency. Lastly, our blockchain allows transactions at almost no cost and almost immediately. Most platforms supporting NFTs cannot say that, unfortunately for them. By the way, we also have player packs, including footballers from selected leagues. Also, we have an exchange where you can instantly change one of your unneeded cards for another for a very small fee.
Q: I do not quite understand the mechanics of your platform. Do people bet on real sports, or do they bet on virtual matches like in FIFA? How does it work?
A: We would like to clear that up. In a nutshell, this is a fantasy football game. Unlike FIFA, it takes into account real football matches, and it is not just a computer simulation. A user creates a fantasy football draft by selecting real footballers. The result in the game is determined by how well they perform in real life. The game has a scoring system that takes into account positive/negative events (e.g., scoring a goal or getting a red card). This is how the cards accumulate points. Teams with the biggest amount of points earn XFC prizes. We have also introduced a virtual component of the game for times when there are few or no football matches. This takes into account real statistics accumulated over time and puts them together using an AI system. The contests are organized similarly to the fantasy football component.
Q: Since your plan is connecting football with the world of cryptocurrency, do you have plans to have partnerships with the biggest and most famous football teams around the globe?
A: Yes, we are always looking to join forces with some of the big players on the world football stage. So far, we have dipped our toes by sponsoring Politehnica Iasi, a Romanian first-tier football team. We have also been in active talks with other teams from around the world, some of them very well known and with a tremendous amount of fans. We hope to complete some of these deals in the near future.
Q: Are Football games developed by the XFC FootballCoin team? Or is it an alliance to include tokens within already created games?
A: Yes, the FootballCoin game and platform are developed by our team. Our blockchain is also developed by our team using multichain technology. For the moment, the FootballCoin platform is the only one using XFC, but we may consider expanding its use in the future, with XFC at the heart of the project. Starting to play FootballCoin is easy. The game is free: simply register and enter any free contest. You will be able to select your fantasy draft of football players. If your team scores a lot of points, you win XFC. The staking system in FootballCoin has to do with the playing cards themselves. When you purchase an NFT collectible card, it is yours to own. You can use it in contests, lease it out for profit, sell it, and so on. It is really a proof of knowledge system.
Q: Do you see the future where crypto and NFTs become an integral part of professional sports?
A: We think the future is here! Football, for example, is watched by 4 billion people across the world. Many of them are interested in collectible items as a way to show their support for the teams they love. FootballCoin creates that bridge between the world of professional sports and blockchain technology. That is the reason why all of the top competitions (EPL, UCL, La Liga, Bundesliga, etc.) are on the game platform. When you play a game, you invest in a unique ecosystem run by users’ supply and demand. In short, I think FootballCoin can be of great help to the professional sports community in the future.
Q: Would you tell us more about such items in the account statistics as “Gold total” and “Challenges finished”? What are their functions? In the statistics “TOPs” sorted by the league, I noticed the Hungarian Championship. Does it mean that the Hungarian Championship will be available in competitions in the new season?
A: We are working hard to integrate those features to coincide with the European Championship. We think this will greatly benefit the gaming experience. This represents a new element of gamification that will be part of a new achievement system we are planning to integrate into the game. Simply, we want to give users even more reasons to come back and play FootballCoin on a daily basis. Regarding the Hungarian Championship, we are already testing the matches from the league. For our free Friday contest, we will actually include one game from that league. Q: What are your plans for the nearest future? What goals do you want to achieve?
A: We are very excited about the near future and are gearing up for the European Championship, where we will implement all of the new features. We will also have contests with large prizes to coincide with the Euros. Moreover, we have some important partnerships during the Euros and an intense promotional campaign in the works.
