Spoiler Alert for Multiple Episodes and Story Arcs from Doctor Who

The Doctor is cool. They’re goofy and playful but also very impressive. They can save the day with nothing but their wits and their friends beside them. They’re a unique type of hero that comments on the nature and potential of humanity. Perhaps the most fantastic thing about the Doctor is that all of time and space is their playground. That’s thanks to the TARDIS, a not-so-little blue box that lets one step from downtown London to the end of the universe and be back in time for fish fingers and custard. The TARDIS is the driving force of the show and arguably the Doctor’s greatest companion. So what is it exactly? I think I have an answer involving supercomputing, extra dimensions and quantum mechanics.

Side Note: In Doctor Who, the Doctor regenerates when on the verge of death. This means their whole body, their personality and their gender can and do change. For that reason, I’ll be using they-them pronouns to describe the Doctor generally, but I’ll use he-him or she-her pronouns to describe the Doctor when discussing specific points in the show’s history. It should also be noted that I’m not yet an expert in the scientific fields I’ll be discussing, so please take everything I say with an appropriate grain of salt.
