Morning with Google Digital Garage and the WhiteHat Apprentices

Google Digital Garage apprentice training

Back in November we invited our apprentices to a training session held by Google at Google, this was the first ever WhiteHat apprentice event! Nearly a hundred of our apprentices in one space getting to know each other, working as a team and getting life hacks from the amazing Digital Garage speakers Keye & Claire.

Throughout the morning, the apprentices had the opportunity to build and improve their CVs to make them shine and stand out, and improve the methods to communicate their message and engage audiences. These presentations were split up to allow and encourage interactions, group activities and snack breaks!

Takeaways and the lessons

The Curriculum Vitae building session taught the importance of knowing your skillsets and playing to your advantage. As it is your life journey it is important that you note every little thing you’ve done, at school or in your spare time, because the things that appear to be nothing can add up to something — just find the hidden strengths in these to highlight in your CV.

The essentials when presenting are to have that back up plan — know your stuff well enough to still present even when your tech fails you. All presenting is storytelling and you want to keep your audience interested and engaged in what you are selling. Nobody wants a DJ who rocks out to his own music alone while the crowd is dozing off!

The key takeaway from the session for us was that we have amazing, bright apprentices who are ready to embark on this journey of achieving their goals and becoming their best selves. From engaging with the speaker and giving some impressive on-the-spot sales pitches, we were taught a thing about style and confidence. Now we’ve all got the ‘sauce’, haha!
