“The Right Stuff” Conservative Dating App Looks Like a Dumpster Fire

And here’s why, from someone who used to work at a dating website.

“The Right Stuff” is a new dating app for conservatives that will launch within a month. Here’s exactly why I think it will absolutely suck, and why I’m so excited to see it collapse in on itself.

It doesn’t look too original.

Based on the screen grabs, it’s like a less colorful Bumble, only without pronouns. So basically, it’s Bumble with fewer features.

Men pay a premium, women get free premium subscriptions.

This is common-ish among all dating apps for the same reason there’s Ladies’ Night at the club. For a dating app to work, especially if it’s focused on cis-hetero relationships, you need women to be there first, so they bring the men. And so, women often get cheap or free subscriptions. This in itself isn’t a problem…

The problem is, as someone who used to work for a dating app, men absolutely hate this. And usually, they aren’t explicitly told…they figure it out over time, and share tips on Reddit.

This results in men signing up as women to get discounts, and then trying to change their profiles to list…
