Lessons From The Wise
All this talk about change, it is important to remember the people who have been there to motivate me at my lowest point and celebrate at my highest. Above all each of my relationships with these people have influenced me one way or another.
Here are some of the wise lessons I’ve learned from the friendships I cherish most:
“ …we have unconditional love for one another. We’re more than of a family than just a group of friends…it doesn’t seem to matter where we’ve gone, or what has happened, we always come back to one another. They’re my biggest supporters and best partners in crime” -Sarah Baker
Whether it be the friends you have from grade school, high school or first two years of college there are some people that come into your lives and stay there for a reason.
It’s all about the mind game.
They way you think totally dictates what you do. For over 10 years Nora has been teaching me this. Negativity can completely spiral out of control and make everything seem like the end of the world.
It is important to establish this positive mental attitude. The way we view events in our lives completely dictates how it is going to go.
Look at things with a progressive lenses. We can only make things better if we think they are going to be better.
Surround yourself with people who will always be there for you.
Never have I been more grateful for people who can sit in a basement and watch horrible indie films for endless hours. Definitely not the most mature relationships I have, but by far my favorite.
These four have taught me that no matter the circumstances laughter can cure anything. You can be dealt a really horrible hand and still find people that will always be there for you.
Their humor, love and support has gotten me through some really hard times. I encourage you to find people who will do the same.
Love with all you have.
At my lowest point, I lacked about all self worth. Kaylee helped me realize there is so much more to life than what you look like. She embraces all that she does. Whether it be her passion for art, love of photography sessions or borderline obsessive love for cats.
Kaylee embodies what it means to ‘find what you love and do it right.”
Her passions are what drive her. Her commitment to who she is inspiring.
She has worked hard for her accomplishments. Since freshman year of high school she has always talked about traveling and seeing all the world has to offer.
She will be studying abroad in Rome next semester.
Things really do happen for a reason.
When things are going horribly it is so difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes things just fall into place.
I met Claire freshman year after walking into her room after a breakup. This random meeting led me to who quite easily can describe her as my soulmate.
Things truly end up the way they are supposed to. It is so easy to stress about breakups, fights and misfortune. But at the end of the day I really do believe everything happens for a reason.
Get weird.
I mean this in the best way. Meg, Sam, Abby, Maria and Lexie have taught me to embrace my random, weird and eccentric quirks.
College has blessed me with the best girl friends I could have ever asked for.
I truly never fully grasped how strange I wasn’t until meeting these girls. That is easily the best part about college. You are given this opportunity to be embrace the quirky/weird and find people who are the same.
We are shaped by the people we surround ourselves with. Learn and love from those around you.
