Aphrodite’s Belt
What is it, and how do you get one?
Aphrodite was/is the Greek goddess of love, beauty and fertility. She was such a provocative and enticing woman that it was nearly impossible to resist her. Legend has it she enjoyed seducing mortals as well as gods. Her beloved husband, Hefesto, loved her so much he gave her a magic golden belt. When she wore this belt, NO ONE could resist her sensuality and beauty. Men and gods became completely insane with desire and they would do crazy things for her. (crisdelara2007.cgsociety.org)
I have to tell you, my whole adult life I’ve had lots of attention, by men and women alike. As in, they were attracted to me, physically. I never could understand the attraction. I’m easy enough on the eyes, I suppose. I credit my blue eyes for that. ;) But I am exceptionally short and stocky, plus I’ve birthed four babies… none of which contributes to a “sexy body”, as far as cultural opinions are concerned.
Then maybe 10 years or so ago, I read a book about creating soulmate relationships, “Say Yes to Love”, by Yael & Doug Powell, and it mentioned Aphrodite’s belt. The authors went on to explain how even the most seemingly ordinary-looking woman can have immense sex appeal. Why? Because she is “wearing” Aphrodite’s belt. It’s more of an attitude and state of mind than it is physical appearance.
This made sense to me. NOW I understood the attention that I was getting. I’ve always FELT very sexy and sensual, even if my body (especially in my own eyes) didn’t reflect that. That’s why I want to show women everywhere (and men, too!) that we can be and feel sexy and confident, no matter the outer appearances. Step one in this process, if you are in the beginning stages, is to love yourself. This is OH so important. How can others love you and be attracted to you, if you do not/are not?
In future blog posts, I’ll go over some techniques and tips every person can use to enable themselves to open up to self-love — to loving ALL the parts of themselves, even the “problem areas”; whether that be physical appearance, attitude issues, or any other kind of “short-comings” one imagines themselves to have.
Hold your head high, walk with confidence, and look people in the eye… with a SMILE. You’d be surprised at the effects!! Try it today. ❤
