Are You In Bondage?
Here’s how to tell…
One “litmus” test for gauging your level of freedom is this: How excited are you to get out of bed in the mornings?
You either are, or you’re not. If you bound out of bed, excited and ready to see what the day holds… you’re following your passion, your heart, you gifts.
If you dread the day ahead, you’ve made the wrong choice along the way. And I’m sorry. I’m in the mood to potentially offend people today. Many people LOVE to play the victim. They love to put the blame of their hard, sad life on other people or genetics or life’s circumstances. WRONG. It’s all on you! Everything is a CHOICE.
Firstly, you truly create the life you want, with your thoughts. You are a powerful magnet, and all the things “out there” are like metal filings. You attract to you what you think about most.
I know plenty of people who have a distinct disadvantage at life… whether it be a chronic disease (Stephen Hawking-brilliant theoretical physicist with ALS), or dismemberment (Nick Vujicic-who has no arms or legs and yet paints, swims, skydives, etc.), or even a developmental disability (Geri Jewell-actor, comedienne and author with cerebral palsy)… and they are out there KICKING ASS! We truly have no excuse.
Freedom from bondage of what life throws at us (whether life-threatening diseases, chronic pain, crippling financial struggles, whatever it may be) is truly a mindset; and I would add to that: a pursuit.
Case in point: Viktor Frankl. He was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist, and he was a Holocaust survivor. He is best known for authoring, “Man’s Search for Meaning.” And also for his belief that one can find happiness and meaning even in the most deplorable of life’s circumstances. Through his experiences in concentration camps, “he came to believe that even in the midst of dehumanizing and atrocious conditions, life still had meaning and that suffering had a purpose.
“Frankl thought that during extreme physical circumstances, a person could escape through his or her spiritual self as a means to survive seemingly unbearable conditions.” -goodtherapy.org.
And that expounds on my second point, that freedom is a mindset and a pursuit. You can choose to be thankful for what you DO have, and you can make a choice to strive to equip yourself with many amazing tools to aid your journey in life, as I have. I have a voracious appetite for positive, uplifting messages, tools and techniques. All you have to do is get started. TRUST ME… once you begin your pursuit, and open yourself up to all the good the world has to offer, it will just keep coming. And what a wild ride your life has the potential to become!
“In life you have a choice: Bitter or Better? Choose better, forget bitter.” ~Nick Vujicic
