NORTH?SOUTH?EAST?WEST?
What direction are you headed in life?
Did you know your life moves in the direction of what you think about most?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll never stop saying it… energy flows where your attention goes. Are you focused on complete health? Or on your physical and/or mental issues…
Are you focused on the inevitability of your death? Or on living LIFE to the fullest NOW…
Are you constantly complaining about what’s going wrong in your life? Or on giving thanks for what is going right…
The good news is, it’s NEVER too late to change the direction you are currently on, if you are off-track. Course-correction begins with a simple step: making the DECISION. Then making a commitment to yourself.
Then comes creating a game plan for change. And then next comes the hard part: putting it into action. That is certainly the area I have struggled with in the past… greatly. One thing many of the teachers of self-development that are out there expound upon is the necessity to JUST KEEP AT IT. And from personal experience, I can tell you that if you can just be persistent in some new behavior, after a time… say, 2 weeks to a month, it REALLY does become a new part of your life. It develops into a habit, or a new lifestyle.
So, whether you are trying to quit smoking, get in shape, develop a meditation practice… whatever it is. BEGIN IT. And then… KEEP ON KEEPIN ON. Before you know it, it’ll become your New You.
I experienced this recently. I’m an admitted sugar addict. I could eat dessert for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ha! But recently I decided to give it up. It’s never easy at the beginning, is it? But I was very motivated this time, and I kept it up. Before long, I started to notice the cravings slipping away. And then, after about 3 weeks, I suddenly realized that all that stuff didn’t even LOOK good anymore! In fact, when I saw the cakes, cookies, ice cream, etc. my stomach actually turned. Crazy, right? But it’s just proof-positive that change CAN take place. Give it a try today!
“If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.” ~Lao Tzu
