Rediscovering Authenticity: A Journey Back to Myself
True success comes from embracing your genuine self in a world that pressures you to conform.
For a long time, I lived as I thought I should. My life was a series of carefully curated actions, each chosen to align with what I believed others expected of me.
I was the model professional, the dutiful friend, the dependable family member. And yet, in meeting all these external expectations, I lost track of something essential: myself. My authentic self — what I valued, loved, and believed — became buried under layers of “should” and “supposed to.”
Rediscovering who I genuinely am wasn’t just an epiphany; it was a deliberate and sometimes messy process. But it transformed the way I live for the better.
Realization: I wasn’t living; I was performing.
Molding myself to fit expectations was like being a TV doctor. I was acting my way through my day. I would think about how an ideal surgeon would act in that situation, and then I would do my best to play the part. Performing my role as if it came off a script. Leaving no room for a genuine interaction between patients and myself.
