The Greatest Gifts Are Often Hidden In Darkness
We just have to go looking for them
Sometimes we just don’t even know what we don’t know.
We’re just going along in life, and then—WHAM!—we’re hit square in the face with a curveball.
Something happens that we can’t ignore, and it shocks us out of our slumber.
These kinds of events, I’m learning, are gifts disguised as complete torture.
I know I sound crazy right now.
But just bear with me.
I’ll be the first to admit that when you experience a devastating loss or a brutal breakup or some kind of upheaval in your life, it feels like anything but a gift.
It feels awful and life-threatening and painful beyond belief.
Sometimes it’s so bad and hurts so much that you don’t think you can go on.
But then something miraculous happens: you do.
Life goes on, and you keep living.
With each passing day, you gain a little clarity surrounding it.
If you’re open to it, life shows you what this experience was for.
It teaches you the lessons you were meant to learn here.
