My therapist says if you want to shrink a fear, you have to face it.
When I think of fear, I think of Jupiter. The planet, not the harry, nude, electric god.
I am now entering territory I have no right to be in — outer space, which is apparently made of math — so bear that in mind.
Now meet Jupiter:
- There be clouds and hydrogen: gassy, liquidy, metallic hydrogen.
- And the Eye of Sauron.
- But underneath it all,
- way down deep,
- there’s the core,
- which may or may not be solid: some say rocky, some say juicy.
- NASA say, “a small, solid core of heavier elements — ice, rock, and metal.”
Fear brings Jupiter to mind because Jupiter’s the perfect picture of fear.
You’ve got the scary thing itself, the core, then you’ve got all the stuff surrounding the core:
Your fear.
