PETALUMA, California, Oct 15, 2018: Carium today announced it has appointed Lygeia Ricciardi as Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). In this role, Ricciardi will provide leadership to Carium’s go-to-market and product strategy, and will continue her influential work as an industry thought leader and change-agent, driving the transformation toward person-centered, holistic health and healthcare. Additionally, Ricciardi will establish and lead Carium’s marketing team.

Ricciardi is passionately committed to the use of digital technology to empower patients and consumers in the context of health. Beginning more than a decade ago, she identified and helped to define consumer engagement as a growing and critically important movement. As the President of Clear Voice Consulting, Lygeia helped tech companies and traditional healthcare system participants ranging from startups to Fortune 100s to engage and empower consumers using digital health tools and innovative approaches, such as leveraging behavioral change science.

Prior to Clear Voice, Lygeia spearheaded the US government’s consumer engagement efforts. She established and led the Office of Consumer eHealth at ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT), from which she elevated patients and their interests in the context of policies and programs throughout the federal government and the private sector, including the $36 billion meaningful use program and the Blue Button Initiative, both of which enable consumers to have access to their own health data, and the ability to share it with the apps and tools of their choice. Ricciardi is a frequent presenter at national conferences and is consistently voted among the most influential voices in health and healthcare. She has been featured by C-SPAN, the Wall Street Journal, and Consumer Reports.

Adding Ricciardi, an industry luminary known for her work driving patient empowerment initiatives, further bolsters Carium’s already accomplished leadership team, comprised of technology and healthcare industry veterans.

“We are excited to have someone of Lygeia’s caliber and accomplishments on our team.” said Nirav Modi, President at Carium, “Carium’s True North is to support and empower people on their health and wellness journeys, so having Lygeia, a trailblazer in the patient empowerment movement, join us, is incredible. She will have an indelible impact on the company and our culture, and will help us to ensure that we deliver on our goal of keeping people at the center of what we do every day.”

“I’m honored and excited to have the opportunity to join a world-class team of entrepreneurs, technology experts, and healthcare practitioners.” said Ricciardi, “Our skill sets are diverse, but we share the same holistic person-centric vision of the future of health. The time is right to build something unique that moves us toward that vision.”
