Funding Virtual Care

By some estimates, America’s hospitals and health systems have lost over $200 billion in the last 4 months due to COVID-19. Among primary care practices, as many as 13% predict closure within the next month, and 20% have already faced temporary closures.

Despite the staggering financial and human costs of COVID-19, there are also some reasons for measured optimism in healthcare. For instance, the pandemic has dramatically sped up the rate of adoption of virtual health, including the number and magnitude of payment mechanisms that support it. Some of these mechanisms will remain in effect after the virus has passed, enabling both providers and patients to leverage technology to benefit from more convenient and effective models of care.

With so much at stake and in flux, it can be hard to keep on top of it. Our next episode of Health in Real Life (Health IRL) is designed to help you do just that. Tune in on Wednesday, June 24th to hear from healthcare expert Dr. Michael Stearns and patient expert Carly Medosch, PMP as they help us navigate the ways healthcare providers can maximize revenue from providing high-quality virtual care. This collaborative, audience-interactive conversation will be moderated by Lygeia Ricciardi, the Chief Transformation Officer at Carium.

Topics Include:

  • The landscape of major programs and mechanisms to obtain revenue for providing virtual health services
  • Details on Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), Chronic Condition Management (CCM), Principal Care Management (PCM) and other initiatives, including the amount of revenue they generate, eligibility requirements, and how they relate to each other
  • How to set up a technology infrastructure for virtual care to provide immediate revenue and pave the way for deeper digital transformation in line with healthcare’s Quadruple Aim
  • The patient perspective on choice in healthcare provider options and the importance of cost transparency

This webinar is part of a series called, “Health IRL: A Collaborative Health Conversation.” Learn more about this initiative and watch past sessions (including one on the overall economic impact of COVID19 on healthcare here: https://medium.com/whose-health-is-it-anyway/health-irl/home.
