Europe is a diverse continent inhabited by almost 750 million people of different beliefs, occupations and cultural backgrounds. These differences make the European population an interesting object of study to find interplays between human qualities and social properties. In our work, we would like to focus on subjective well-being compared to other features.

Well-being is the state of feeling healthy and happy. This state is not entirely dependent on the objective quality of living. Generally speaking, the feeling that everything is alright and basically one is happy most of the time influences many areas of life, such as good mental health, job satisfaction, sense and purpose of living. Well-being also increases the ability to manage stress.

Our project is meant to study correlations between self-reported well-being and other features such as trust and employment. We also want to know how the level of well-being varies between countries and if any trends can be seen in that matter. Maybe it will allow us to find common features of great importance for high well-being levels, cross-countries tendencies or a universal recipe for well-being.

For data, we will use the European Social Survey, which is a rich database about subjective qualities reported by Europeans from 27 countries. It will allow us to explore connections with well-being on many different levels.
