The Davies Student Center is the place:
· the hub for all students at UW-Eau Claire
· to study, eat, get concert tickets and stamps, get your textbooks
· to sit by a fireplace or take a nap
We didn’t want you to start from scratch so we outlined what we think are noteworthy areas for students. Whether you want to study, eat, get your books or even take a nap, Davies is always a great choice.
1st Floor Davies
The first floor of Davies is often as busy as Target on Black Friday, and you will probably spend a lot of time there. So what’s all there? Walking in the campus mall door is where you are going to find many of the amenities; there is an ATM/Bank right inside the door. If you continue in you will find the student service desk and Blugold card services. Many students think of the first floor of having just food but there is much more
The Student Service desk offers one-stop conveniences to students. You can get stamps, mail a package, or cash a check. When you need to buy a ticket to one of the many forums, concerts or events on campus, you will visit the service desk to get your ticket.
Summer Watters, a junior, goes to Davies almost every day.
“I go to Davies for everything. When I’m hungry, studying or just bored between classes.”

Many students feel comfortable in Davies, and will leave their belongings on tables and couches to snatch a spot amidst the madness. Even though the first floor is usually chaotic, that’s what most students seem to enjoy.
Summer says “I like seeing people I know, plus it’s definitely the best building on campus.”
If you take a walk down the hallway past all the tables and dining options you will come across the first level of the bookstore, which doesn’t have any books. Instead, you’ll find Blugold apparel, accessories and other items, such as basic school supplies and some snacks. The staff in the bookstore is very helpful in picking out a gift for mom or yourself!
If you’re not feeling the gift shop or the busy tables in the front of Davies, tucked away in the back is The Cabin. It’s a warm and cozy place with a loft on the second floor, a fireplace and comfy couches, as well as Caribou Coffee and the option — if you’re 21 or older of course — to enjoy beer and wine. Students can study, chat, relax or come to The Cabin to watch concerts, or participate yourself at Open Mic Night.
2nd Floor Davies
The second floor of Davies has the bookstore where the textbooks are, both the rental books and ones you buy. Davies offers the service of buying books back from students as well.
The chaos is a little less on the second floor and there are lots of spots to study or hangout or relax on couches, booths, and other rooms. At the end of the long hallway is the second level of The Cabin.

The second floor is also home to the UWEC Activities, Involvement and Leadership office, which manages student organizations, and the Student Senate, with lots of opportunities and activities for students to get involved, get leadership experience, and make their voices heard. Junior Maddy Earley is a member of the Student Senate. Her role is to connect with students, to understand their opinions, and bring them back to the Student Senate for discussion.
“There are so many important things we are talking about and we not only want, but need, the opinions of our fellow students so we can make the best decisions for our campus as a whole.”
3rd Floor Davies
Head for the third floor of Davies for student organization meetings, a lot of campus events, or just a sweet view from the terrace (when it’s open for spring/summer/fall season).
The third floor is home to two ballrooms named for the local Native American tribes, the Dakota Ballroom and the Ojibwe Ballroom. There are several other meeting rooms as well. This is where the annual career fair happens and many other events.

Looking to see a movie but don’t want to leave campus? Problem solved! Davies is home to the Woodland Theater, which is always playing different movies all year round. Keep an eye out for posters located around campus to see the movie schedule.
“The Woodland Theater is not only a good place to watch big-screen films, it supports small-screen projects too. My friend’s movie played here and it was cool it see her name on the same screen that Oscar winners names were on,” says senior Kate Niestrom
Looking for a place to hangout or study a while? Head on out to the terrace to get some homework done while taking in the awesome view of our campus and getting some sun. Or grab a couch, a booth or chair. The third floor has more than enough places to get your studying done, watch Netflix or take a nap.
