Yep, sometimes suburban life is a series of existential despairs

I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore is the winner of the grand jury prize at Sundance 2017. The film brings humanity, moral and existentialism despairs onto the table.

In this film, Melanie Lynskey plays Ruth Kimke, a woman who becomes the victim of a house burglary. Backed up by the oriental martial arts geek neighbor Tony (Elijah Wood), she gets out to find her stuff back and brings the crooks who stole it to justice. But the formal justice can do nothing.

The movie has dark comedy and suburban noir that I really enjoyed it. But the most thing I celebrated here is the heroine Lynskey. I feel so connected with the character. We are fed up with everyday rudeness and assholes everywhere.

Thumbs up for the writer-director Macon Blair who can sum up average people melancholy essentially and darkly.
