Write The Future

FFO introspective young adult who always gets jaded and worried about the future

Write The Future is a killer emo outfit from Malang. With their long-anticipated debut full-length Changing Pace they continue to explore new territory and improve the sound aspects while still stick to their roots, capturing the theme of anxieties in mid-20’s and some emotional turmoil of interval stage between graduating from the senior year and started living as an adult. It’s the extended version of their potent EP Bury My Trace Someone Will Take My Place.

I know being a grown-up is scary, and this is exactly a coming of age record that I’ve been looking for. Whenever Dandy starts singing with Bob Nanna-esque and Risang riffs followed it up, I can’t stop listening to it. Which is ok by me, cause I sometimes feel something very real about my life through it.

To be honest, listening to Changing Pace is like having friends to share the same confusion, worry, and wonder, and sometimes anger to everything that seems not okay. “Everybody’s running, rushing//starting changing pace, should I do the same thing//,” in the verse of ‘Changing Pace’, with closure “Should I change?/Should I be running to fit in?.”

My favorite cut so far is ‘Changing Pace’, ‘Write You Off’, and ‘Relieve’, the rest are also great. Needless to say, the album is crazy good, effortlessly cool and totally an emotional bulldozer for everyone who is in or already out-of-age as a mid-20's.
