Although WIFI everywhere has many advantages in our work life, it also has some negative effects.

  • Causes distractions

WIFI everywhere in the workplace isn’t always a good thing. It provides employees with a chance to connect the internet and access their social media without limitation. The employer cannot monitor employees’ behavior and some employees are also unable to control their behavior to access social media out of office hour. Social media may distract the attention of employees. These distractions may lower the productivity. Some companies may try to prevent employees distraction by similarly blocking social media sites but there are still some devices distract people’s attention.

  • Stifle creativity

With the development of the technology, there are many solutions on the website for different problems. People may rely on the Internet to solve problems. Once employees become too dependent on the Internet, their creativity declines. When they encounter problems, they immediately think of searching online for solutions rather than trying to solve the problem themselves. Over time, their problem-solving skills will decline and their creativity will decline too.

  • Security problems

All companies have their own confidential data. For example, customer data and patent data. Most data are processed or stored on a computer. Once these data are stolen or lost, there will be immeasurable bad results. There are many security problems with wi-fi and the Internet. There could be hackers or computer viruses. These hidden security problems are fatal for companies.

  • The decline in social skills

Once companies provide WIFI everywhere, it’s convenience to communicate with colleagues over the Internet. People will prefer using WIFI to communicate with colleagues by email. This approach has a fixed format and does not require social skills. People don’t have to pay more attention to the tone of voice and the way they communicate with colleagues, they just need to covey their purpose in a simple way by using email. People’s social skills will decline over time.
