The Great WiFi Map Airdrop: How it works and what to do with your $WIFI

Tomorrow at 01:00 UTC, we’re holding our TGE. The token generation event means the $WIFI token will be welcomed into the world, and you’ll be able to buy, sell, trade and stake it on top-tier exchange OKX, as well as using it within the WiFi Map app.

At the same time, the first ever WiFi Map airdrop is landing, offering retroactive rewards to people who’ve helped to make WiFi Map what it is today. Afterwards, we’ll hold monthly airdrops, so this is just the first of many to come!

We’re hugely grateful to all our active users who have contributed to the WiFi Map app. As a way to thank you, we’re sending $WIFI to your in-app wallets.

Who’s eligible?

All WiFi Map users who have earned more than 500 points are eligible to participate in the airdrop, provided you haven’t used cheating or spamming methods to earn your points. Your token reward will depend on a number of factors.

How much will each user receive?

The total airdrop allocation will be split among all eligible users, based on your reputation score, your contribution level and a couple of other factors. This means that the more active you are, the more tokens you’ll receive. The exact amounts are calculated based on the following:

• Reputation score: Your reputation score in the WiFi Map app is based on the quality and quantity of your contributions, and can change from one month to the next. Users with a higher reputation score will receive more tokens.
• Quantity of contributions: The more you contribute to the app by adding new hotspots, updating and healing existing ones, conducting speed tests, and connecting to other users’ WiFi hotspots, the more tokens you’ll receive.
• Quality of added data: If the WiFi hotspots you’ve added have a high success rate and fewer complaints, they’ll yield more tokens.
• Length of membership: The longer you’ve been an active member, the more tokens you’ll receive.

How do I participate?

If you’re eligible, you don’t need to do anything! The $WIFI tokens will be automatically distributed to your in-app wallet based on the factors listed above. Just go to your in-app wallet and check to see whether you’ve received an airdrop.

What can I do with my $WIFI?

The $WIFI token was created to bring utility to the WiFi Map community, and you’ll be able to use it inside the WiFi Map app as soon as you receive your first tokens. Here are a few things you can do with it from the first day:

• Redeem your $WIFI tokens for eSIM data packages: New to eSIM? Setting up your first eSIM takes just a couple of minutes. If you need help, we’ve prepared some articles to help you get started and enjoy worldwide mobile internet.
• Receive 15% cashback when redeeming $WIFI for eSIM data, and 3% cashback when purchasing mobile data with fiat.
• Top up your $WIFI balance using your bank card, deposit $WIFI tokens from outside the app, and view your transaction history.

You’ll also have the option to withdraw your $WIFI to any external wallet. If you want to exchange your $WIFI for another cryptocurrency or sell it, we recommend using OKX, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges and the first to list $WIFI.
