What we’re all about. Where we hope to go. What we want to accomplish.

Wilderness Wire is an online publication and community dedicated to promoting a deeper love and understanding of wild places and the people who use and explore them.

We aim to promote the respect, conservation, and responsible enjoyment of public lands through personal stories, essays, and articles focused on the great outdoors as not only a refuge from everyday life, but also an enhancement to it.

What We Won’t Do:

This is NOT another crummy travel/adventure blog. We will not litter our pages with Top 10 Lists, Gear Reviews, Travel Hacks, and other forms of click bait that is so often devoid of any true value to the human spirit. That ground is already well covered and we don’t need to add to the trash heap.

We will not try to sell you crap through sneaky affiliate links or other affiliate marketing tactics. We may occasionally endorse a product or link to it through an affiliate link, but it will be rare and we will always disclose that information.

We understand that (almost) everyone needs to make a living, but we want to keep this place as pure and clean as possible.

If the opportunity or need to generate revenue should ever arise, we will do it in the most responsible and transparent manner possible.

What We Will Do:

We will publish and promote stories that feature the triumph of the human spirit and overcoming adversity, conservation efforts, environmental concerns, climate change, healing through nature, photo essays, calls to action, and much more.

We will create a community to foster and encourage healthy discussion and debate on the topics that are near and dear to the heart of every outdoor enthusiast, from hikers and campers to trail runners and climbers alike.

We will create a community that will be a voice in the effort to rethink our relationship with nature and wild places and help to usher in a new perspective on what this world can be right now and for future generations.

Thank you for reading,
