My Unplanned Utah Adventure and the Family I Found Along the Way
In the tumultuous year of 2020, as the world grappled with the challenges of a pandemic, I found myself in dire need of an escape from the monotony of working from home 24/7. One morning, feeling burnt out and craving a change of scenery, I decided it was time for a spontaneous adventure. The travel restrictions had been lifted, and it was now a personal choice to explore the world. With a quick Google search, I stumbled upon the magic that was about to unfold — a group tour to Utah with Southwest Adventure Tours.
Booking the trip just a week before departure might sound impulsive, but in hindsight, it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. Amid the chaos of 2020, plagued by stress and the uncertainties of the ongoing pandemic, this last-minute getaway was a breath of fresh air. Despite the initial nerves about joining a diverse age group, we quickly connected. The trip, which started with strangers, transformed into a tight-knit family.
One of the bittersweet realities of life is that it sometimes takes us on unexpected journeys. In our case, one member of the Hoodoos Squad, Rick, embarked on his next adventure. His passing left a void, but the memories of our shared moments linger on. Rest in peace, Rick — until we meet again on the next great adventure.
