4. User Generated Content (UGC)

This is any form of content such as video, blogs, discussion-form posts, digital images, audio files, and other forms of media that was created by consumers of a particular product and publicly made available to users.

Leveraging UGC is simply getting some of the contents you post on your website, social media and other online assets from your consumers.

This could be pictures of how customers use your product, blogposts from customers telling about their experience with your product or service etc.

A lot of beverage, alcohol and clothing brands do this.

It is a great way to transfer part of the stress of creating content for your online audience to your consumers.

One key advantage of this is that it could help build credibility for the brand.

However for UGC to work properly, there has to be an incentive for creating it.

The consumers want to know what they would get from creating content for your brand.

You could offer incentives like a financial reward for the best ones, brand visibility, an opportunity to get their questions answered by a huge amount of people etc.

5. Showcasing your brand heroes

This is showing off the people who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make your brand what it is.

It could be your COO or even your security guard.

You could do this by posting their picture on social media on their birthday when there is a celebration or something or just on random days.

Nigerian E-commerce brand, Jumia did this very well during their 5th year anniversary.

This would not only help to humanise your brand in front of consumers, it is a way of increasing the internal energy in your organisation by making your staff feel like they are valued.

6. Facebook Groups

Facebook groups have become the new cool on the social network. Facebook’s new algorithm seems to be favouring groups now over pages.

This has resulted in a lot of groups growing really fast lately.

To leverage Facebook groups for your brand, open a new group around your niche and create conversations around the kind of products or services you provide.

You could always insert plugs for your brand in between.

An example is if your brand is one that sells sneakers.

You could create a Facebook group for sneaker freaks, put a “Shop Now” button with a link to your online store and advertise new products on the group to your group members.
