These simple guidelines will help you relate to your audience in the best way possible.

1. Keep Your Content Fresh

There is nothing that makes a reader leave a website quicker than unoriginal and redundant content.

On top of that, when content isn’t original, rankings from search engines diminish and articles get lost.

So, what can you do to avoid the pitfall of mediocrity? Keep the content fresh!

Instead of speaking about the same concepts and ideas that have been spoken about before — add a new spin on things.

  • Using trending topics can be a great idea as long as you bring unique insight and creative thought to them.
  • Adding personal flare or experiences can give you and your brand an edge.

2. Talk tech! But Emotionally Connect.

This one is pretty straight forward…talk tech!

Whether it’s the latest Bitcoin update, breaking news about Artificial Intelligence, or pain points of a software project manager — you have to talk about something that connects to a person’s emotions.

Source trending content from online publishers such as Tech.co and feel free to get ideas and inspiration from others’ blog posts.

Offering your thoughts on this top content will make your readers want to engage not just because it gets them excited, but also because your thoughtful commentary resonates with them.

3. Simplify Your Writing

Technical jargon may be acceptable when writing about something that requires proper names or phrases to make sense of things.

But outside of these occasions, you need to make your content readable for the common viewer.

Further, it’s no secret that even the most high-browed business executives prefer reading pieces that are honest, candid, and straightforward.

A good starting point is to try to write how you speak. Then, eliminate any and all unnecessary words while honing in on commonalities between your insight and your audience’s interests.

How I think about it:

If you were extremely excited about a new software, and you just met a stranger who doesn’t really know much about it — how could you effectively explain it?

So, those are the tips.

If you only take away one thing from this article, make it this:

People enjoy things that excite them and that make sense.

Simple idea, but most people can’t pull it off because they don’t pay attention to it.

Don’t make that mistake.
