Don’t be like this. Keep reading to find out how to spend your summer vacation days laptop free!

Whether you started your blog because your love and passion for your industry or because you wanted a outlet within your website or business to engage with consumers, the value of steady, scaleable increases in online traffic to your site cannot be understated.

A general rule of thumb in online advertising is that the more engaged your web visitors are, the more potential you have to monetize your content.

There are countless blogs and online guides to increasing engagement, and we’ve even written our own two-part series to content monetization, but during busy periods (like the days leading up to summer holiday weekends) it can be more helpful to glance at a few inspiration starters and build out your content from there.

In case you need some simple, yet engaging content ideas for your blog or social media profiles, check out our 5 minute content repurposing rundown below.

Repurposing content for blogs

Check your website’s analytics from the last year to see which of your topic areas or blogs had the most engagement.

Try to study trends by analyzing, for example:

  • the tags on your most popular posts
  • the number of social media shares per post from blog’s around this time last year
  • the number of desired actions (purchases, downloads, sign-ups) from each blog over the last three months.

If you’ve already have Google Analytics, you can set up a custom report for each of these metrics, and use goals to track your performance over time.

Once you know what your readers tend to respond to the most around this time, pick the most popular post that fits in this criteria and update it with a “seasonal twist”.

For example, let’s say you’ve checked out the data and noticed that your Tutorial posts tend to get a lot more traction during the summer months, but your Product Reviews have the most engagement and conversions (aka your desired actions) over the past three months.

Take advantage of the summer holiday frenzy by posting a special “Father’s Day Product Review + Tutorial Recap” related to your best performing subject.

You may even be able to easily merge the two without a full rewrite by simply adding editing a few paragraphs of content and inserting more relevant keywords.

Repurposing video content

Editing video content is a time-exhausting task, and if you already have content slated for this weekend but you forgot to add the seasonal push, why not hop on the promotion bandwagon with a last-minute Top 10 compilation?

People routinely look for ways to stay fit, beauty tips or last-minute grilling recipes online during the summer. Guide your audience to the most relevant and simple to follow videos on your channel to increase views!

Choose your best videos from the past year or go through your viewer analytics to see which topics drive the most engagement and conversions and put together a curated playlist for your followers.

If you’re taking advantage of a paywall or subscription model for special content and resources, consider including one or two of these videos in your playlist as well so that potential followers and customers feel they’re getting in on a holiday or seasonal exclusive.

If you don’t have time to put a playlist together or repurpose old content, crowdsource it! Ask your followers to share their favorite videos or blogs of yours from past trending weekends or just over the last few months.

Create a Twitter thread or hashtag for your request and share it with your followers across all of your social media platforms!

The goals of these idea starters are to use your online influence and the feel-good vibes that come with the first official holiday weekend of the summer to start and grow new conversations with your audience.

Doing this allows you to drive more of these digital conversations into real-world actions, like partnerships, more revenue or increased loyalty to your brand.

In the best case scenario, all bloggers would have an opportunity to speak directly to their audience’s specific content needs during every high traffic period, but for now, this guide works as an effective solution for your brand!

Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to get all of your social media audiences in one virtual room to share ideas and feedback, but by adding your hashtag to the willu waitlist, you get to take your online followers offline with our SMS-enabled hashtag messaging. You can request to add your hashtag here, or learn more about how willu works on our website.
