Six months after Harold published his first book, his writers’ group still hadn’t consoled him for his failure to sell a single copy. And funding his Kickstarter project to pay for an illustrator, and, when that failed, buying shares against sales to hire an artist.

Sure, they only gave him $50, and the illustrations were retreads from an already published project, but group members wrote off their loss and urged him to move on to another book.

They could have told him the truth, but Harold was so sensitive. Especially whenever a member suggested that Petals and Fangs a book about flowers that ate children and spit out their bones night not be a book mothers of three-to-six-year-olds would buy.
