A tongue-in-cheek depiction of my story. The individual in the picture is a tad younger than I was at the time of the focal event. Luísa Schetinger on Unsplash.

In another time and place, my ex-husband and I owned a restaurant. Before I began to actively participate in running it, another person, Jan (not her real name), managed some of the tasks that became mine. My ex, Don (not his real name), said that in the past while working there, Jan had hit on him a few times, even though she was seeing the waiter that worked in that same restaurant. The waiter was a married man, and his wife was a friend of mine. Anyway, my ex said he made it clear to Jan that he had no interest in her.

Now, sure, his story sounds rather unlikely, but at the same time it was clear that he found her unappealing, so it was only logical to take him at his word.

So he said she got undressed and sat on top of him, but he was clothed. It was understandable why he was upset. With a woman like that sitting on me, I’d want to be fumigated, sterilized, disinfected, boiled, bleached, and drycleaned. Don wanted to discuss it, and I listened. Yet he knew…
