In possibly one of the craziest games of the season, the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Winnipeg Jets 6–2.

The festivities started before the game, with the Blackhawks celebrating Brent Seabrooks 1000th NHL game. Blackhawks radio announcer Troy Murray led the presentation that included a video tribute, golden stick, one of a kind painting and a trip to Disney for Seabrook and his family.

Anton Forsberg was set to be the Blackhawks starting goaltender, but an injury before warmups led to recently called up goaltender Collin Delia starting between the pipes. Blackhawks announced Forsberg will be done for the season.

To add to the craziness, recently signed forward Dylan Sikura made his NHL debut, playing on a line with Blackhawks rookies Alex DeBrincat and Victor Ejdsell. He would pick up two assists in the Blackhawks win.

Once the game actually started, the Blackhawks took an early lead, with Patrick Kane scoring his 27th goal of the season. Towards the end of the period, Brandon Saad found the back of the net, scoring his 18th goal of the season, and extending his point streak to 4 straight games. The Blackhawks would end the first period up 2–0.

Tomas Jurco would take a shot from below the crease and make it 3–0 Blackhawks, and would follow it up just over 5 minutes later with his 6th goal of the season and second of the game to make it 4–0.

Jets forward Bryan Little would make it 4–1 after tipping a Dustin Byfuglien shot, but Erik Gustafsson would score on a breakaway, his 4th of the season, making it 5–1. Sikura would get his first career assist on this play. With just over a minute remaining in the second, Mark Scheifele would make it 5–2 with his 23 goal of the season.

Alex DeBrincat would score the Blackhawks final goal, making it 6–2. Sikura would pick up his second assist of the night, and Ejdsell would contribute his first NHL assist on the play.

Rookie goaltender Delia looked solid in his first NHL appearence, stopping 24 of the 26 shots against him.

Between Seabrooks 1000th game, the debut’s from Sikura and Delia, and the offensive breakout from the Blackhawks, there was a lot to talk about. But all of that ended up being overshadowed by emergency goaltender Scott Foster.

With about 14:30 left in the third period, Delia went down with an injury, leading to emergency goaltender entering the game. Foster, 36, has never appeared in an NHL game, and is an accountant by day.

Foster stopped all 7 of the shots against him, backed by the Blackhawks crowd who chanted “Foster” after some big saves. It was his first game since his days at Western Michigan 15 years ago, and recived the first star of the game from the Blackhawks.
