Today we’re excited to announce that we’re launching Los Angeles’ first comprehensive child care discovery platform to help families find high-quality daycares and preschools. We’re also partnering with another mom-founded company — Los Angeles-based WeeCare — a company that empowers top educators to start and operate their own home daycare business.

With Winnie, parents can see all of LA’s licensed child care providers on a map and filter by age range, cost, schedule, and available openings.

In a recent survey of young parents we conducted, 65% of respondents said finding child care was the most frustrating and difficult task they faced, citing long waitlists, lack of information about their options, and cost as the primary pain points. When we dug into the problem, we found half of licensed child care providers have no web presence at all, and over 70% of parents have to rely on word of mouth to find providers. By bringing these caregivers online, Winnie is both connecting parents to their available options as well as connecting these small businesses with new potential customers.

With our free mobile apps or website, parents can see all of LA’s licensed child care providers on a map and filter by age range, cost, schedule, and available openings. They can also share their experiences and read reviews from other parents.

Beyond discovery, parents face another challenge — the lack of available spaces in high-quality child care programs. In LA, there is only one open spot for every 6 infants or toddlers looking for care. Winnie’s partnership with WeeCare is designed to address this problem by creating quality, affordable care where it is needed most.

“When there is enough demand for child care in a given area, WeeCare supports top local caregivers and educators to open their own home daycare to satisfy that demand,” explained Jessica Chang, CEO and co-founder of WeeCare. “We are so excited to partner with Winnie. Over a short period of time, they have been able to build an incredible community that fosters positive family development. We’re proud to be working together to create a foundation for change in early child care across the United States.”

Winnie previously launched its child care discovery platform in the San Francisco Bay Area, Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and New York City and will be expanding to other regions in the near future.
