• From the next version, backups will use a new format. This is the last version that supports the legacy backup version.

The decision to drop support for older platform comes from a difficult balance between the desire to support a wide audience and the need to use newer versions of Android. Newer versions receive security updates from the manufacturer and provide new functionalities that help us write secure code more efficiently; more powerful devices allow us to do more end-to-end processing on the device.
