The lads in Rotterdam this weekend.

A couple of weeks ago I sat down with Luke Bowe to discuss his band, Young Jack. Over the past three years these lads have worked relentlessly to gain a loyal following. Endless gigs all over Europe and some quality studio work.

I have been lucky enough to see these guys play in all over, from Ibiza to Doncaster! Great shows, every time.

I first of all thought it would be important to find out where these guys started off and what are their favourite venues to play.

YJ — The New Adelphi Club, Hull. It’s somewhere that has provided us a platform for years now, we’ve learnt to perform on the stage and witnessed some of our favorite bands there. Not to forget Jacko (Owner)is a Legend.

Of course that’s not their only favourite venue in Hull!

YJ — The Polar Bear is the new place to play; it has been hosting The Sesh now for the past few years and the things Dave, Mark and Daniel have achieved are amazing.

I have got to agree, having played there myself and having spoken to Daniel (head booking agent and promoter), they are brilliant for local music and emerging talent.

So speaking of independent venue’s, do you find the atmosphere unique?

YJ — Yes. I always find that they give positive vibes, It’s nice to play places that are intimate, that’s when you feel the connection with the crowd.

You guys promote all your own stuff via your social media accounts. In terms of advice for young musicians starting out who want to put on their own event. How long does it take plan a successful event?

YJ — You need to promote constantly for at least two months. We do this for the feeling and it’s worth every second of the hard work we put in!

Of course the promotion of gigs is not always down to you some times you end up playing to small crowds people I presume, so does this ever effect your performance?

YJ —I’d say the best gigs are when there is a smaller crowd in a small room and everyone is involved. No matter if it’s a man and his dog, you have to play like its sold out.

It’s not like you have any problem interacting with big crowds though is it guys!

You guys are pretty new to the Manchester scene! How do you find the crowds here?

YJ — Harder to win over, with so much great talent in the city your performance has to be consistent.

I have personally seen you lads cover a some crazy tunes! What’s your favourite at the moment?

YJ —At the minute it’s Pick up the Pieces by Average white band. When the horns hit its crazy.

I look forward to hearing that!

Lastly, can you give us some idea on your plans for 2017?

YJ — We’re going to be releasing tons of new material! Stay tuned.

Here’s how to stay tuned with the funky fresh Young Jack.
