Supporting Diversity @ Wisdom 2.0 2020

In our efforts to walk our talk in making Wisdom 2.0 even more accessible, innovative, and inclusive, we’d like to welcome Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to take advantage of our BIPOC ticket tier for a discounted price. This ticket tier was created for those who have come from these historically and systematically marginalized groups to make attending a little bit easier.

We want to create a space where all are welcome. We created this ticket as a way to acknowledge that moving through predominantly white spaces can be challenging for folks with marginalized racial identities. We also realize the systemic unfairness of our past and present economic system, making it harder for these groups. This is not a perfect or complete solution, but it’s a start.

We acknowledge that the conversation around race, oppression and privilege is complicated, layered, and can bring up many emotions. In the spirit of our conference, we invite you to be mindful of your emotional and embodied experience as you read this. We hope to be able to engage these experiences in a more inclusive and mindful way as we learn and grow as the Wisdom community.

For those who are not in a position to afford that tier, we welcome you to submit an application for a scholarship. We also welcome volunteers.

For those with more privilege — financially and otherwise — we invite you to be allies in this process of building a more diverse and inclusive community by becoming a supporter. Supporter tickets help fund our scholarships and subsidize our BIPOC tickets.

Wellbeing and connection are about many things, and a sense of belonging is certainly one of them. Through exploring our sameness, difference, and the systemic oppressive forces that divide us, we are promoting a richer, more diverse and holistic sense of belonging. We hope you join us in this endeavor.

We know there is no one class or group that can create a more loving and just world alone. We need all of us. As MLK Jr. said, “We must learn to live together as brothers (and sisters) or perish together as fools.”

We don’t claim to know the path forward, but we hope this one small move is a step in the right direction, and we know that it will make Wisdom 2.0 2020 a richer experience for everyone!

Thank you for your time, presence, and support. Please share with friends in these communities.

Thank you!

Wisdom 2.0 Team
